Dr. D. H. Tennakoon is a descended from a traditional local medical family and later he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and M.Phil from the University of Colombo in Ayurveda. He worked as a Specialist Ayurvedic Surgeon for nearly 30 years in the Department of Ayurveda and at the time of his retirement he was the Director of the National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital Colombo.
